Authorities on Guam island have urged people to stay at home or evacuate to higher ground in advance of the landfall of Typhoon Mawar.
The storm, which could be the biggest to hit Guam in two decades, is expected to hit the US territory on Wednesday morning.
The governor has asked the more than 170,000 people who live there to stay calm.
