The predominantly Muslim central asian state of Kyrgyzstan is home to various religious minorities including Christian, Jewish, and Buddhist communities. One community in the north of the country traces its origins back to Russia Cossacks who settled in what was then the most eastern outpost of the Tsarist Russian Empire.
