Doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers around the world have been working tirelessly to save lives since the pandemic began.
But the World Health Organization says since January last year, up to 180,000 of them have died from COVID-19.
Many say they're overworked and under-appreciated, and some have opted to leave the profession.
So what should be done to ensure they receive the support they need?
