Getting something to eat isn’t always as easy as stretching out a hand, especially when you’re a capuchin monkey. So-called because of their dark cap of fur, capuchins live in various South American habitats like here, in the Brazilian Highlands. It’s a beautiful region but also prone to drought, often leaving the capuchins without their usual diet of fruit and vegetation and instead dependent on palm nuts. Cracking nuts, inventive foraging and bold climbing are all essential skills for a capuchin to survive and are passed on by elders to their young.
