There's been intense overnight fighting between Pakistani and Afghan forces, in a remote northwestern border region.
There are reports of casualties on both sides.
This is the second time in recent days that the two neighbours have traded fire.
Tensions flared after Afghan forces attacked Pakistani soldiers on the weekend, accusing them of violating their territory.
All border crossings between Pakistan and Afghanistan remain closed.
The unrest has displaced people from nearby villages.
