About 150 vessels are stuck, waiting to pass through the Panama Canal.
The growing backlog follows months of drought in central America.
Low water levels because of reduced rainfall have led to limits on the number of vessels allowed through.
Cargo deliveries are being delayed and supply chains hit worldwide
